Lufthansa German Airlines and Iran’s national carrier, IranAir have signed a code share agreement.
Under the agreement, which goes into effect on February 1st, Lufthansa German Airlines will add IranAir’s flight code “IR” on their services from Frankfurt and Munich, respectively to Tehran.
“The code share agreement will offer additional travel opportunities for our customers locally and around the world on Lufthansa services to and from Tehran” said Mohammadreza Khoshnevisan, Member of the Board and D.M.D Commercial & Field Operation for IranAir, the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Karsten Zang, Senior Director of Sales for the Lufthansa Group in the Middle East, Afghanistan & Pakistan.
Lufthansa operates daily flights between Frankfurt and Tehran. The service is complimented by three weekly flights from Lufthansa’s Bavarian Hub, Munich to the Iranian Capital.
The codeshare flights, effective February 1st, 2017 on the following routes IKA-FRA-IKA (flight numbers IR1601/IR1600) and IKA-MUC-IKA (flight numbers IR1603/IR1602), in partnership with Lufthansa as operating carrier will be open for sale on Wednesday, January 18th. All sales and distribution channels may access to the above mentioned schedules.
Furthermore, both executives highlighted IranAir’s successful partnership with Austrian Airlines, a Lufthansa Group subsidiary, based on a code share agreement in place for over a decade.
